In order to realize safe, comfortable and sustainable city life, we explore and implement methodologies for disaster mitigation and improvement of infrastructure.

Modern cities need safety and security, and should aim for sustainable development with respect to the buildings, local communities, and urban infrastructure systems. In this research area, we cover urban management, urban disaster mitigation, and urban infrastructure. We tackle various problems related to urban management from the legislative and economic aspects, urban disaster technologies including construction materials and building structures, and safety engineering for lifeline systems and undertake specialized education and research with a view to regional cooperation and international expansion.
